Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI/HindIII--4.35, 2.65; BamHI--7.0; SalI--7.0; PvuII--4.35, 2.65; PstI--3.9, 2.0, 1.1. The primary transcript is encoded in sequences from 1126 to 2605; mature peptides are encoded from 2372 to 2455 (somatostatin 28) or 2414 to 2455 (somatostatin 14). The intron extends from 1369 to 2245. Detects a genomic EcoRI fragment of 20 kb in the mouse. The polymorphic BamHI site is in the intron 31 bp 3' to the exon/intron boundary. The polymorphic EcoRI site is 3' to the coding sequences, 6.4 kb from the EcoRI site at the 5' end of the insert. This clone does not contain the polymorphic BamHI site. |
