Organism remains viable in blood for 24 hrs at 4C. Antibodies that develop after infection, cross react extensively with Anaplasma marginale in all serologic assays evaluated to date. Officially recognized as reference strain by Veterinary Hemoparasite Research Workers of the Society for Tropical Veterinary Medicine. The preparation available through ATCC carries an unidentified contaminant. In vitro use may necessitate addition of antibiotic(s) and/or fungizone. |
